Sunflowers Cross-Pollinated by Insects

Flowering: The plants are cross-pollinated by insects.

Early this morning I saw insects pollinating this sunflower.  

I did not have my camera and missed a good opportunity taking a picture of 

bee...looked like lifting or being covered in the 

yellow powder substance (such a pollen?).  

When I got my camera I took these pictures. 


 Comparing the pictured above sunflower to the one below,
The picture above shows the middle area filled out whereas
the sunflower picture below is not filled out in the middle.

The disk flowers are perfect and the ray flowers pistillate.
