A watermelon is technically a berry.  Plants usually produce only 1-2 decent fruits per vine.  If more fruits set, then all the fruits will be small and of poor quality....
Seeds ripe when watermelons are good for eating.  This may take from 70 to 110 days from planting, depending on the location, environment, fertility, water availability and other variables."
